What GreenScanner is

GreenScanner is a measurement and practice aid. It reads the shape of a putting surface with your device’s LiDAR and simulates a putt on that measurement. It does not know grain, wind, moisture, footprints made after the scan, or how you strike the ball.

Use it within the rules

The Rules of Golf restrict measuring slope and elevation, and green-reading aids, during a round (Rule 4.3). Competition rules and club policies vary. It is your responsibility to use the app only where it is permitted. We take no responsibility for a penalty, disqualification or dispute arising from its use.

No guarantee of accuracy

We work hard on accuracy and publish how it is tested, but a scan can be wrong: because of drift, wet grass, a hurried walk, or reasons we have not met yet. The app and its results are provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, and to the extent permitted by law we are not liable for any loss arising from reliance on them. Missed putts included.

Your device, your data

You may use the app on any compatible device you own or control under Apple’s App Store terms. Scans belong to you. Exporting and sharing them is entirely your choice.

Course data

Course names and outlines are derived from OpenStreetMap and are © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database Licence. They may be incomplete or out of date; a green outline in the app is a reference, not a survey.

The website

You may use golfgreenscanner.com for its intended purpose. Do not attempt to overload, probe or scrape it. The contact form and release list are for people, not automated submissions.

Intellectual property

The GreenScanner name, mark and website content are ours. The app’s source code is published on GitHub under the licence stated in that repository.

Changes and law
